San Clemente is a city located in Orange County, California. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 49,936. San Clemente is the southern most city in the county, six miles south of San Juan Capistrano. Its location makes it the only city in Orange County closer to San Diego than to Los Angeles. San Clemente beaches, tucked away in a corner of Orange County, are known for their casual lifestyle, Spanish architecture, gardens of palm trees, and year-round tropical red and yellow blooms. San Clemente State Beach has been popular since it was first developed in the 1930s. Swimmers, body surfers, and board surfers gather here along with those who don snorkels or bait a hook. San Clemente prices are not jumping leaps and bounds like they once did, but nearly every home that sells, sells for slightly more than the last one. Buyers should be looking for homes only if they have started the process of being approved for a loan.
